Holmer Green SS – Outdoor Shading Installation
Multi Outdoor Shading Solution For School
Holmer Green Senior School had a particular problem keeping their pupils dry whilst they queued for the Tuck wagon that was parked at the top of a long alleyway between their two principal buildings. A veritable wind tunnel it became extremely unpleasant when it rained and we were one of the companies asked to offer a solution.
On our first trip to view the challenge this offered, it became clear a mixture of products would be required and we have just the products in our portfolio of outdoor shading to suit.
QZEBO PATIO VERANDA
First is the Qzebo, a 100% aluminium patio veranda, out of the Giulio Barbieri stable with its long and proud pedigree. The fabric is distinguished by a towered dome tensioned from the inside thanks to a system of aluminium profiles. The fabric is installed using tailor made profiles that integrate perfectly with the side cross-bars creating a structure with a unique and minimal design.
ROOF COVER
The fabric used is mainly Précontraint PVC by Ferrari, the leading manufacturer of structural fabric used in the manufacture of tensile structures. These Qzebo’s are anchored by bolts to the paved walkway. Drainage is by way of built in guttering.
We installed a total of six Qzebo’s and as the passageway opened up, we opted for three large, engineer designed sail shades using another Ferrari waterproof fabric, STAM 6002. We dug large square holes in the pavement and fitted purpose designed and manufactured steel structures with large hold down bolts. These holes were then refilled with concrete.
The finished article is quite a spectacular sight and one of huge functionality. Money well spent by the school.
SAIL SHADES
The school also had a a side area that needed waterproof cover and the product we felt would give the best value for money and the most effective shade was another sail shade.
This was again an engineered product that required very serious consideration and effort to get installed. Getting the actual sail shade over the structure took 8 of us a day to achieve but one that has given us a wonderful sense of achievement.
Again, it has been spectacularly successful and a huge hit.
Sail shades for schools are a great hit, simple, cost effective and safe. They need little to no maintenance. Put them up and forget about them. You should get 10 to 15 years life out of the fabric without any difficulty.
